J.B.

Based on the Book of Job, J.B. was written by Archibald MacLeish and premiered in 1958. The play-within-a-play explores universal themes of love, faith, injustice, and the nature of God as J.B. is stripped of his wealth, family, and health, and must confront the question of why he is made to suffer.
